In the stillness of the night,
When darkness covers me;
I am safe, as with a friend,
From life's storm hidden, I pretend.
In the commotion of the day,
When light exposes me;
I am weary, left alone,
To face the storm , unknown.
Wondering on whom, can I depend?
I close my eyes and seek my friend.
In darkness, I hide once again.
My eyes stay shut and dreams begin.
Life passes me by, until one day,
I heard Jesus call and began to pray.
His crimson blood now covers me.
It shines so bright, perfectly.
My eyes now open,
I clearly see the storm.
Wide awake, I ride,
The waves of life, reborn!
My Crimson friend shines through me,
Exposing false security.
The darkness only hides the pain.
But Crimson light removes all shame!
Today I walk in dignity,
With His Grace surrounding me.
Forevermore I seek His face,
Truly now, I'm Wide Awake!
