Day5
Week27
1 Samuel 17
“Now the Philistines gathered their armies for battle, and were gathered at Sokoh, which belongs to Judah. And they camped between Sokoh and Azekah in Ephes Dammim. Saul and Israel’s fighting men were gathered, and they camped in the Valley of Elah. And they drew up in battle order to meet the Philistines. Now the Philistines were standing at the base of the mountain on the one side, and Israel was standing at the base of the mountain on the other side, and the valley was between them.”

Who’s hands are you counting on?
We tend to look at this story as if all Israel is fully armed with traditional weapons and only David has sticks and stones.
Remember we read previously that the Philistines had destroyed all blacksmiths and charged a high fee for them even to sharpen their farm equipment.
Saul and Jonathan had swords and they may have had some more from the previous victory, but most of the army had only sticks, stones and maybe bows and dull arrows.
What do you have in your hands?
Do you find yourself looking at your circumstances with empty hands?
God is never empty handed.
When our hands are empty, He turns our enemy into a weapon for for His glory.
