Day2
1 Samuel 17
Week31
“When Saul saw David going out against the Philistine, he said to Abner, the commander of the army, “Whose son is this youth, Abner?” And Abner said, “As your soul lives, O king, I do not know.” The king said, “Inquire whose son the young man is.” So when David returned from slaying the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul with the Philistine’s head in his hand. Saul said to him, “Whose son are you, young man?” And David answered, “I am the son of your servant, Jesse the Bethlehemite.””

Who Are You?
It is interesting that Saul had to ask who David was and who’s son he was.
The time frame between David soothing Saul with his harp and serving as Saul’s armor bearer is not clear. Samuel’s writing and recounting of the events are not in chronological order.
It could be that David’s bold act was completely out of character for the David that Saul had known or maybe David had a pubescent growth spurt and had changed in his outward appearance.
Whatever the reason, Saul nor his army commander recognized David.
Do you know who you are and who you belong to?
We are supposed to be a peculiar people. We are to act and think differently than the unbelievers who are living according to earthly culture.
