Who Am I

Day3

Week13

2 Samuel

“Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan the son of Saul came to David and fell upon his face and bowed down. Then David said, “Mephibosheth,” and he responded, “I am your servant.” David said to him, “Do not be afraid, for I will certainly show you kindness on account of Jonathan, your father. I will return to you every field of Saul, your father, and you will eat at my table perpetually.” He bowed low and said, “What is your servant that you should be concerned for a dead dog like me?””

Who Am I

Have you ever felt like a nobody?

Have you ever been offered an extravagant gift and been overwhelmed feeling unworthy?

Psalm 8:4 my paraphrase: “Who am I that you are mindful of me?”.

David’s act of extravagant kindness was overwhelming and unbelievable to Mephibosheth after all those years of isolation.

The kindness of Jesus is overwhelming and unbelievable, but no less true.

God knows the very number of hairs on your head! He loves us, no matter how low we may esteem ourselves.

Action Step

When I really think about this it humbles me. Who am I that the God of the universe cares about me?

God, I am humbled that you carefully consider my life, even though I am only here on Earth for a moment. You care deeply about that moment. Thank you for loving me. Today show me how to consider others like you have considered me. In Jesus name. Amen.
