“Now when David and his men came to Ziklag on the third day, the Amalekites had raided the south as far as Ziklag. They had struck Ziklag and burned it with fire. They had taken as captives all the women who were there. They did not kill anyone, but carried them off and went on their way.”

Weak Spot

Have you ever sustained a back injury by doing something simple?

One time I quickly picked up my 5 year old sending my back muscles into spasm for a week!

Why did this happen?

I had a weak spot. My ab muscles had been ignored for years leaving my back vulnerable.

Do you have a weak spot?

David had obligated himself to the enemy king, creating a weak spot, not only in his personal life, but also the lives of his men and their families.

Have you obligated yourself to the enemy?

“Of course not!” You might say, but please consider this:

Maybe,

  • You choose to think about your finances instead of praying and thanking God for what you already have.

  • You decide to cut short your prayer time because you’re in a hurry.

  • You take matters into your own hands and force a quick fix to a problem.

  • You spend the majority of a conversation talking about a problem, instead of searching the Word for His answer.

  • You focus on what you need instead of Who’s you are.

  • ………you get the idea.

God is full of compassion and mercy! He did not allow Saul’s disobedience to destroy David’s and his men’s families. Saul was supposed to utterly destroy the Amalekites.

He disobeyed and now they have attacked David’s camp. David left his camp unprotected, but God caused the enemy to show mercy by only capturing and not killing the women and children.

God knows your weak spot. He is faithful to protect us even from ourselves. Thank You Jesus!

Action Step

Thank God for His faithfulness!

Use these next few moments to ask Holy Spirit to reveal to you a weak spot.

Father God, help me to obey Your voice and learn to develop trust in Your strength where I am weak. Thank You for protecting me. In Jesus name. Amen!
