Day5
Week22
1Samuel 14
“Then he said to all Israel, “You will be on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side.” And the people said to Saul, “Do what seems good to you.” Therefore Saul said to the Lord, the God of Israel, “Give a perfect lot.” And Saul and Jonathan were taken, but the people escaped. Saul said, “Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son.” And Jonathan was taken. Then Saul said to Jonathan, “Tell me what you have done.” And Jonathan told him, and said, “I indeed tasted a little honey with the end of the staff that was in my hand. Here I am. I must die.” Saul said, “May God do so to me and more also, for you will surely die, Jonathan.””

True Humility
Saul asked God to give a perfect lot.
God answered and the lot fell on both Saul and Jonathan.
Why did Saul ask for another lot to be cast?
Have you ever asked God again after He gave you an answer that you didn’t like?
God’s answer was perfect. Both Saul and Jonathan had acted foolishly with a prideful mouth.
I believe that God answered with the second lot on Jonathan to help Saul see the error of his arrogance.
Saul did not show mercy for his son even though it was because of his son that they had been victorious.
Jonathan didn’t try to excuse his actions. He admitted his disobedience and accepted his consequences even unto death.
Which character do you relate to more?
Honestly, I probably see more of Saul in myself
What about you?
