Day1
Week8
2 Samuel
”The king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, who were living in the land. They said to David, “You will not enter here; even the blind and the lame will turn you away”—thinking, “David cannot enter here.” Nevertheless, David overthrew the stronghold of Zion, which is now the City of David. David said on that day, “Whoever defeats the Jebusites, let him go through the water shaft to reach the lame and the blind, who are despised by David.” Therefore, it is said, “The blind and lame shall not come into the house.”“

Trash Talk
Your team is about to fight for the championship.
What’s your best trash talk?
The Jebusites were engaging in trash talk with David and it was pretty good stuff.
“You couldn’t break through our strongholds even if we put our blind and lame on the frontlines!”
David used it to rally his men. He urged them to push through into the inmost part where their idols were kept. He referred to their precious idols as the lame and the blind. False gods carved by men with eyes , but blind and legs, but lame. He promised a reward for the one who breached the stronghold and destroyed the idols.
David forbid the blind and lame idols to enter his house.
When our hearts are hard before God and full of sin, we have eyes, but are blind and feet, but are lame and we are not permitted to enter God’s kingdom.
The only way to enter into the Kingdom of God is through Jesus. We must reject sin and receive forgiveness so that our blind eyes will be opened and our lame feet will be whole.
Again we are seeing a picture of Jesus and God’s redemptive plan.
Action Step
Is there an area in your life where you feel blind or lame?
Humble yourself and ask Jesus to open your eyes and fill you with His strength.
”Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will guard your heart and mind through Jesus Christ.“
