Timing Is Everything

Day1

1Samuel 25

Week42

“Abigail came to Nabal, and he was feasting in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk. Therefore she told him nothing until the morning light. But in the morning when the wine was gone out of Nabal, his wife told him these things. And his heart died within him, and he became as a stone. And about ten days after that, the Lord struck Nabal and he died.”

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭25‬:‭36‬-‭38‬ ‭MEV‬‬

Timing Is Everything

Why is it so hard to hold back and keep from telling everything we know?

We seem to be compelled to be the first to spread the news. The “breaking story” headlines are all the rage.

In my experience I have learned that wisdom waits. It is tempting to tell all, but wisdom quietly waits on the Lord.

Abigail knew that timing is everything. I imagine she had experienced delivering news to a drunk, foolish man many times before this and had learned that wisdom waits for the precise moment.

With God, timing is everything! Trusting God also means to learn to wait on His precise timing to act in a situation.

He is faithful and He will show out on your behalf, but timing is everything, so stay in prayer and keep alert. Do not allow the enemy to push you into foolishness.

Action Step

Seek the Lord while He may be found. Isaiah 55:6-7.

I have found that early morning is a great time to hear from God. It’s quite and still. There are fewer distractions and I am in a slower mode which makes it easier to listen.

I am in good company, too because Jesus got up early before the sun to pray.

Mark 1:35
