The Roman's

Day3

Mark 15:37-39

“Just then Jesus passionately cried out with a loud voice and breathed his last. At that moment the veil in the Holy of Holies was torn in two from the top to the bottom. When the Roman military officer who was standing right in front of Jesus saw how he died, he said, “There is no doubt this man was the Son of God!””

The Romans

Mark’s Gospel is originally written with the unsaved Roman in mind. A working class person. This Gospel is considered the “and then” Gospel. It is action packed and moves quickly from one scene to the next leaving out Jewish prophecy and references to their laws.

Mark and Luke’s retelling are the only ones that mention the Roman officer who proclaims Jesus is truly the son of God. He is the first Roman to be born again.

The Gospels are to be read together in order to get a whole picture of the events that transpired.

John tells us that Jesus gave him the responsibility to care for Mary the mother of Jesus.

Matthew tells us that many who were dead at the time of Jesus last cry out, saying “Into my hands I commend my Spirit”

were raised from the graves and were seen in Jerusalem walking around alive!

I don’t know about you, but I never noticed this detail before. His resurrection was so powerful that others who died were raised also!

Wow!

It doesn’t say who specifically, just many. I wonder who was walking around Jerusalem that resurrection day! We know that Joseph, Jacob’s son’s body was carried there to be buried. Maybe He was there alive again.

The Bible is so exciting when we take the time to slow down and absorb it!
