Day1
Week22
2 Samuel
“After forty years, Absalom said to the king, “Please allow me to go fulfill my vow that I made to the Lord in Hebron. For your servant made a vow when I was dwelling in Geshur in Aram, saying: If indeed the Lord will bring me back to Jerusalem, then I will serve the Lord.” The king said to him, “Go in peace.” So he arose and went to Hebron. But Absalom sent scouts throughout all of the tribes of Israel, saying, “When you hear the sound of the horn, say: Absalom has become king in Hebron.””

The Long Game
Do you tend to look at life in the moment or is the long game more your style?
Absalom nursed his desire for revenge and power forty years.
That is definitely the long game.
Sometimes we get caught up in what’s going on around us and forget about the long game.
God has a purpose for each one of us. Foremost to share the Gospel and to each do it in a unique way that reflects the individual gifts God has given us. That is our long game.
If Absalom can patiently pursue his evil plan, then we can patiently pursue God’s plan for us.
Action Step
Patience is not popular, but very beneficial and a great witness.
God, I want my life to testify to Your goodness and grace.
Refocus my heart on You. Help me pursue You first, above all else. Nothing in life matters more than bringing glory to You.
Show me who I need to share You with and give me boldness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
