Week 16
Hebrews 12
”We look away from the natural realm and we focus our attention and expectation onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection. His example is this: Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be his, he endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation, and now sits exalted at the right hand of the throne of God! So consider carefully how Jesus faced such intense opposition from sinners who opposed their own souls, so that you won’t become worn down and cave in under life’s pressures. After all, you have not yet reached the point of sweating blood in your opposition to sin.“

Don’t Tap out, Tap In
God’s Correction and Discipline
Tap Root
A taproot is a large, central, and dominant root from which other roots sprout laterally. Typically a taproot is somewhat straight and very thick, is tapering in shape, and grows directly downward. In some plants, such as the carrot, the taproot is a storage organ so well developed that it has been cultivated as a vegetable.
I recently heard about this type of root system, ironically when I was enduring a season of wanting to “tap out”.
Life’s pressure or at least the pressure I put on myself had become more than I thought I could manage.
As I heard the definition of the tap root, I couldn’t help but think of Jesus as our tap root.
Our strength comes from Him.
I am the vine, you are the branches. John 15
Jesus is the head, the visible carrot growing down from heaven. (He chose to come down as a man) and we are the lateral sprouts.
The sprouts need the resources from the central, dominant root in order to grow. We must “tap in” to the source.
Jesus focused on the joy He would receive from an eternity with us in order to endure His suffering.
Our focus needs to be on the joy we receive from His presence. All our much needed nutrients are found in the tap root, Jesus.
Are you tapped in to the pressures of your life or the Source of your life?
Do you need to tap out or tap in or both?
Action Step
“Tap in” to Jesus.
Breathe in deep and exhale slowly.
Have an honest conversation with Jesus.
Praise Him for listening to you.🙌🏻🙌🏻
Now be still and listen to Him.
