“But Jesus permanently holds his priestly office, since he lives forever and will never have a successor! So he is able to save fully from now throughout eternity, everyone who comes to God through him, because he lives to pray continually for them. He is the High Priest who perfectly fits our need—holy, without a trace of evil, without the ability to deceive, incapable of sin, and exalted beyond the heavens!”

Talk vs Pray
Talk
~ speak in order to give information or express ideas or feelings; converse or communicate by spoken words.
Pray
~ to make a request in a humble manner.
~ to address God with adoration, confession, supplication, or thanksgiving.
We have studied about Jesus as our advocate or attorney in past lessons.
Today’s verses are introducing Jesus as High Priest where He continually prays for us.
Jesus is not simply talking to God the Father, He is praying. He is humbly asking the Father with adoration, confession, supplication and thanksgiving on our behalf.
His prayers are not based on our performance, but on His!
We have a High Priest who dwells in the Holy of Holies seated on the right of the Father.
He answers every accusation made by the accuser (the satan) against us with confession of the completed work of the cross. He prays with adoration and thanksgiving to Our Father on our behalf. When we talk vs pray, we are having a conversation with Him and that also involves listening.
Knowing that, we can have bold confidence to not only pray, but also talk with Him and with Our Good Father.
Action Step
Pause.
Think about Jesus as your High Priest.
He is for you.
He is with you right now through Holy Spirit.
Allow that truth to sink in and let that be your focus as you go about your day.
