2 Samuel
“Then Hushai said to Zadok and Abiathar the priests, “Ahithophel advised Absalom and the elders of Israel to do one thing, but I advised them to do another thing. Now quickly send someone to report to David, ‘Do not spend the night at the fords of the wilderness, but instead cross over. Otherwise, the king and all of the people who are with him will be swallowed up.’ ””

Swallowed Up
The Bible is full of warnings. God is speaking to us all of the time. The question is, “Are we listening?”.
Have you ever had a thought pop into your head as you were about to do something and then you ignore it only to wind up wishing you would have listened? Maybe you are trying to carry a bit too much and end up dropping or breaking something…
One of the ways that Holy Spirit speaks to us is through those quiet thoughts. These thoughts warning us in our everyday life are training so that we are not swallowed up in more difficult or important situations.
David was warned to move out with the people so they would not be swallowed up.
God has also provided His Word full of warnings, so that we will not be swallowed up in the cares of this life, dangerous circumstance and even our own foolish wisdom.
Do you feel swallowed up today?
Action Step

Pray and tune in by opening His word.
Practice His presence by listening and when you hear that prompt to stop what you are about to do, obey. The small things are where He teaches us obedience.
