Surprise!

Do you like surprises?

I do. If it is a good surprise. I like surprise gifts or parties, but I don’t like surprises that interrupt my routine or my agenda, for instance; a surprise illness or a surprise car repair or surprise phone call with bad news.

Jesus chose the exact time of His death. He was not surprised by any of it. No man actually killed Him. He allowed everything that happened to Him to be done for a purpose.

Pilate was surprised and amazed by the whole thing.

Jesus disciples were surprised and horrified by the whole thing. ( even though Jesus had told them all of it ahead of time.)

Are you surprised when trials come up in your life?

I think we all are.

Jesus begged the disciples to keep watch and pray while they were in the garden. Instead the slept.

Prayer is preparation for what’s coming.

If we are prepared, we will not be taken by surprise when the storms of life come. Jesus spent much time in prayer. We need to follow His example. He gave us a surprise gift to help us pray even when we do not understand. This precious gift is the Holy Spirit.

We can receive this gift simply by asking God for it. Our Heavenly Father knows how to give us good gifts. Matthew 7:11.

Count it all joy!

“My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can! For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up in you the power of endurance.”

James (Jacob) 1:2-3 TPT

Prepare for the trials and storms by praying often.
