Stubborn

Day3

Week9

1Samuel

“Why then do you harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When He dealt severely with them, did they not let the people go, and they departed? “Now therefore make a new cart, and take two milk cows on which there has never been a yoke. Then tie the cows to the cart and bring their calves home, away from them. Then take the ark of the Lord and set it on the cart. And put the images of gold, which you return to Him for a guilt offering, in a box by the side. And send it away, that it may go.”

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭6‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭MEV‬‬

Stubborn

Have you ever taken a personality test?

If so, then you know that sometimes we have tendencies or characteristics that we don’t like to admit we have.

Stubbornness can look like perseverance if it is channeled correctly.

It can also look like rebellion or disobedience if left unchecked.

God is Holy!

Kodesh, the Hebrew word for “holy” literally means “separate” or “set apart.” It comes from the root word “Kadash”, which means sacred.

This is helpful for us because it means, at least in part, that when we're talking about God's holiness, we're talking about His absolute purity. He is unstained by sin and evil. He is perfect in every way, and perfectly good all the time.

We seem to forget that part of His character.

He is sovereign.

It means being the ultimate source of all power, authority, and everything that exists. Only God can make those claims; therefore, it's God's sovereignty that makes Him superior to all other gods and makes Him, and Him alone, worthy of worship.

Why then do we question Him?

Why is it so hard for us to just surrender and trust Him?

Our human reasoning is clouded by sin.

We are in a war with our own flesh.(physical desires)

We often desire things that are not good for us.

Trust is obeying even when we don’t understand why or how.

Action Step

Ask yourself these questions and think about your answers throughout the day.

Is God telling you to do something that doesn’t make sense to you?

Do you need to let go of control over a situation?

Have you forgotten the holiness and sovereignty of God?

As you consider these things today, allow Holy Spirit to minister to you and lead you into all truth and total surrender.
