Spirit, Soul, Body

God brought this earth and universe into existence by releasing His faith to form the substance of what we can see. Hebrews 11: 1 says,

“ Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” From that moment on, God had the substance to work with, and from it he formed man from the dust of the earth. Then he breathed the breath of life into the man’s body, and Adam became a living soul. Genesis 2:7. The universe and all that was in it, including man, was created from the inside of God. Just as He is a triune, or three part, being, He made man in His image, a three part being. You are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live in a body. Your spirit is the part of you that receives eternal life and with which you contact God. It is the real you. Man thinks of himself as being only a body because he cannot see his spirit with the natural eye. But to understand spiritual things, it is important you realize you are a spirit. The spirit is called the heart of a man because it is the core or center of his being and it is the life of the body. When the spirit leaves the body, the body dies.

Your soul is made up of your mind, will and emotions. It is the part of you that reasons and thinks, that deals with a mental realm. When Eve was tempted by the serpent in the garden of Eden, he appealed to her soul her mind, will, and emotions. God had given Adam and Eve His Word. He had told them to “not eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because in the day that you eat from it you will surely die” Genesis 2:17. The serpent reasoned with Eve, telling her exactly the opposite of what God had said. He told Eve the fruit would make her wise and she would be like God,

Genesis 3:4–5.

What she didn’t realize was she was already like God, made in His image. Her spirit knew the truth, but her mind reasoned about what the serpent said. Her will drove her toward the fruit until she fell for the serpent’s lie.

The same thing happens today. When you receive Jesus as Savior and Lord, your spirit man was reborn from the spiritual death inherited because of Adam’s sin, and you became a new creation in Christ Jesus,

2 Corinthians 5:17.

God‘s eternal life was imparted into your spirit. But now your soul, your mind will and emotions, must be transformed and renewed by the Word of God into the wisdom and revelation of the knowledge of Him and your covenant in Christ Jesus, Ephesians 1:17–23. Romans 12:2 says, “ do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove or discern what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.“ When God‘s Word tells you that Jesus “ took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses” Matthew 8:17, the same devil who tempted Eve will remind you of your symptoms and tell you you’ll not get your healing this time. If your spirit is strong and your mind renewed and full of the Word, you’ll back him off with words of faith, just as Jesus did.

Matthew 4:1– 11.

You will not be moved by what you see or feel. Instead you’ll praise God for his healing power working in your body, driving out the sickness and disease and making you well and whole.

The third part of your being is your body. It is your Earthsuit. It is the vehicle in which your spirit and soul ride around this earth. You are to present it to God as a living sacrifice Romans 12: 1, bringing it under subjection to your spirit 1 Corinthians 9:27. Your spirit man, along with your soul, is eternal, but your body is subject to physical death.

2 Corinthians 4:16 says, “though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”

The apostle Paul speaks of the body as the clothing of the spirit and the tent which is our earthly home 2 Corinthians 5: 1-8. the amplified Bible classic edition.

Your body is a covering for your spirit. God expects you to take control over it and not allow it to rule you. The spirit world rules the world of the natural. When your spirit is strong and your mind renewed from filling it with the word, it will gain ascendancy over your flesh and keep it in subjection to God. God‘s perfect will for you is to be strong, and that “your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless onto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Thessalonians 5:23.
