Sound Of Silence

Day2

1Samuel 28

Week 45

“Now Samuel died and all Israel mourned him, and they buried him in Ramah, his own city. And Saul had removed the mediums and the necromancers from the land. Then the Philistines gathered themselves together. And they came and camped in Shunem. So Saul gathered all Israel together, and they camped in Gilboa. When Saul saw the camp of the Philistines, he was afraid and his heart trembled greatly. Saul inquired of the Lord, but the Lord did not answer him by dreams, or by lots, or by prophets.”

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭28‬:‭3‬-‭6‬ ‭MEV‬‬

Sound Of Silence

Have you ever asked God a question and all you heard was the sound of silence?

It has been my experience that when I receive the sound of silence in my prayer time, it usually means that God has given me all I need to move forward and He is waiting on my obedience or I just need to trust Him and wait.

Saul on the other hand, had made a habit of disobeying God and doing things his way to the point that God had repented for making Saul king.

God is merciful. His mercies are new every morning. Imagine becoming so hard hearted that you reach the end of His mercy.

Even then, if we repent God is faithful to forgive us.

Seek the Lord while He may be found. Isaiah 55:6-7.

If we seek Him, we will find Him. The problem is that we give up and try to figure things out in our own understanding.

Have you been hearing the sound of silence?

Action Step

Ask yourself these questions.

  1. What was the last direction I received from God? (Maybe He placed someone on your heart to pray for or text or visit? Maybe He urged you to give someone a financial blessing or a gift of service… or maybe He nudged you to pray longer or read your Bible more…)

  2. Have I done the thing I felt God asked me to do?

  3. If you have done all you know to do, then continue waiting and press into His Word and His presence through praise and prayer.

  4. If you have not, repent and do it.
