Day5
Week16
2 Samuel
“Then Nathan told David, “You are this man! Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: I anointed you as king over Israel and I rescued you from the hand of Saul. I gave to you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your arms, and I gave to you the house of Israel and Judah. If this were too little, I would have continued to do for you much more. Why have you despised the word of the Lord by doing evil in His sight? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and you took his wife as a wife for yourself. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites. Now the sword will never depart from your house, because you have despised Me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife. “Thus says the Lord: Behold, I will raise up trouble against you from within your own house. I will take your wives before your eyes and will give them to your neighbor, and he will lie with your wives in broad daylight. Although you did it secretly, I will do this thing before all of Israel, and under the sun.””

Self-Sentence
Isn’t it funny how we recognize personal faults in others so plainly, yet can’t see them in ourselves?
David was quick to judge and order a sentence for a man he knew nothing about. Unfortunately he didn’t recognize the self-sentence that he also ordered in the process.
Jesus warns us not to be quick to judge. He gave a great example in one of His teachings found in
Matthew 7:2
He warned, ““For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged. And with the measure you use, it will be measured again for you.”
A self- sentence is invoked when we judge another.
Action Step
Keep your eyes and ears fixed on God and take notice of how little time you have to judge others.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. If we , in-fact trust God, then we won’t care about how anyone else’s actions affect us because it is completely in His hands. He has our best interest at heart and is taking care of everything.
