Day1
1Samuel 27
Week 44
“Then David said in his heart, “Now I will perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will despair of continually seeking me within all the territory of Israel. So will I escape out of his hand.” David arose and passed over with the six hundred men that were with him to Achish, the son of Maok, king of Gath. And David lived with Achish at Gath, he and his men, each man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal’s widow. It was reported to Saul that David had fled to Gath, so he no longer sought him.”

Seek Peace
Are you tired of struggling?
Do you feel like you’re in a never ending race?
David had been running for his life a long time. God was faithful to deliver him every time. He stayed 1 step ahead of Saul consistently, yet he was tired of running. I’m sure his men needed a break as well.
David would seek peace in the enemy camp. This seemed like a good idea because he knew that Saul would not dare attack him there.
Do you seek peace in the enemy’s camp?
Sometimes we attempt to eat or drink our way to peace. Maybe we seek peace through shopping or binge watching movies.
I think you will agree that most often we are looking for peace in all the wrong places.
The Bible tells us in at least 2 places to seek peace and go after it.
Psalm 34:14 and 1 Peter 3:11.
It is natural to seek peace, but peace is not the absence of trials or difficulties. God gives us a peace that passes understanding. Jesus said , “…My peace I give, I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27.
True peace is a gift from God. By seeking a closer relationship with Him we find peace.
Not worldly peace disguised as the idols of comfort we retreat to.
We are commanded to seek peace. How we do that is to seek God. Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
Action Step
Jesus arose early to pray and commune with His Father. Early morning is the quietest time of the day with the least distractions.
Life Coach, Anthony Thompson says it this way;
John 10- the devil comes to steal, kill and distract!(oops, I mean destroy)
Distraction is a key enemy weapon.
Try setting an alarm for 10 minutes earlier than normal and spend it with God. I recommend outdoors while weather permits.
