Day1
1Samuel 31
Week 49
“Now the Philistines were fighting against Israel, and Israel’s fighting men fled before the Philistines and they fell slain on Mount Gilboa. The Philistines overtook Saul and his sons. And the Philistines killed his sons, Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malki-Shua, Saul’s sons. The battle was heavy against Saul. The archers found him, and he was severely wounded by the archers.”

Revenge
Are you quick to even the score?
Do quick-witted come- backs slide off your tongue?
Revenge feels good, doesn’t it?
Saul lived his life seeking revenge from his enemies and became so paranoid and bitter he also sought revenge from imaginary enemies.
Revenge belongs to God.
Why is it so hard to let go of?
Simply put, Pride!
Hebrews 10:31 In-Context
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Saul’s demise is a prime example. He was given many opportunities to let go, but he held onto bitterness.
3 of Saul’s 4 sons were killed in battle. Saul was only wounded. He lived to hear the heartbreaking news of his son’s deaths and suffered not only physically, but emotionally finding no relief. Alone on the battlefield he-also feared being tortured by his enemy.
David did not seek revenge against Saul, though none of us would have blamed him. He left his bitterness in Gods hands.
Are you longing for revenge today?
