Day2
Week7
1 Samuel
“When the Lord’s ark came into the camp, all Israel shouted so loudly that the earth rang with echoes. As the Philistines heard the noise, they asked, “What’s ⌞all⌟ this shouting in the Hebrew camp?” The Philistines found out that the Lord’s ark had come into the camp. Then they were frightened and said, “A god has come into ⌞their⌟ camp.” They also said, “Oh no! Nothing like this has ever happened before. We’re in trouble now! Who can save us from the power of these mighty gods? These are the gods who struck the Egyptians with every kind of plague in the desert.”
1 Samuel 4:5-8 GW

Remember When….
Nostalgia is a powerful tool.
One of the things I admire about the Jewish culture is the importance of remembering what God has done.
They are very disciplined in teaching their children about all that God has done for them as well as the history lessons of their peoples disobedience, repentance and God ‘s mercy and restoration.
God’s reputation has reached into the enemy camp in this passage.
Fear has swept over the enemy.
So many times in my life I have allowed fear to sweep over me rather than the enemy.
Why do we tend to focus on the size of our situation rather than remembering the size of our God?
Action Step
Get out your journal
And jot down a few times that God has been faithful for you.
In case you can’t think of any, remember some of the Bible stories from childhood.
If you were not raised in church, then do a google search on the faithfulness of God.
