Day5
Week11
1Samuel 7
“Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen. And he called its name Ebenezer saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” So the Philistines were subdued, and they did not again come into the territory of Israel. And the hand of the Lord was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel. The cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even to Gath. And Israel rescued their territory out of the hands of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.”

Remember
Many times in the Bible God instructed the people to make a memorial of stones to remember what He had done for them.
Do you have any kind of visual evidence of what God has done for you?
I like to keep a journal to record my thoughts and feelings. I use it to record what God has done for me.
It is amazing to read past journals and be reminded of what He has already done. A written record of His faithfulness.
The Bible is just such a record. It is a memorial for us to remember all that God has done and what He promises to do.
We will experience discouragement from time to time.
It is important to remember God’s faithfulness during those times.
Having a picture or piece of jewelry or a stone…. Can provide an important encouragement in our most desperate moments.
I keep a picture of an eastern bluebird in a frame in my office to remind me of my personal covenant with Almighty God. He brought that bird into my yard one day when I was crying out to Him in despair. I had never seen one before that day. A week earlier I saw that picture of the bluebird and wondered for a very brief moment if I would ever see one.
God even listens to our wonderings!
Let God’s past faithfulness encourage you today.
Do you remember?
Can you see it?
Action Step
