Day2
Week26
2 Samuel
“David mustered the people who were with him, and he set over them commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds. Then David dispatched the people, one-third under the command of Joab, one-third under the command of Abishai the son of Zeruiah and brother of Joab, and one-third under the command of Ittai the Gittite. Then David said to the people, “I myself will go out with you.” But the people said, “You should not go, for if we retreat, they will not be concerned about us. Even if half of us die, they will not be concerned about us. But now you are worth ten thousand of us. Therefore, it would be better to assist us from the city.””

Rally The Troops
How much time do we waste squabbling amongst ourselves?
We are Christ followers, but are we really following Christ example?
Paul instructed us in 1 Thessalonians 5, to encourage each other and build each other up. In order to do that, we must lay down our own agenda.
This is the only way to rally the troops in the war with “self”.
If we can align our hearts with Jesus and drop the focus from “self” the horizon will be clear as well as our mission.
Self- will, reliance, pity, doubt, sufficient, centered….
Christ-centered is others focused.
David divided the people into thirds. We each have mind, will and emotion. 3 parts that need unified. It is time to rally the troops within us and move outside of ourselves into the mission field.
Action Step
Ask God, “Who can I encourage today?”.
Give generously to whom ever comes to mind. They may need kind words, service, prayer, company or financial help.
Whatever it is, do it wholeheartedly right now.
