Day2
1 Samuel 20
Week34
“And he said to him, “Far from it! You shall not die. Look, my father does nothing either great or small that he does not reveal to me. Why would my father hide this thing from me? It is not so.” David vowed again and said, “Your father certainly knows that I have found favor in your sight. And he says, ‘Do not let Jonathan know this, lest he be distressed.’ However, as the Lord lives and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.” Jonathan said to David, “Whatever you say, I will do it for you.” David said to Jonathan, “Tomorrow is the New Moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king to eat. But let me go that I may hide myself in the field until the evening of the third day. If your father misses me at all, then say, ‘David asked for leave from me that he might run to Bethlehem his city, for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.’ If he says, ‘Good,’ it will be well for your servant. But if he gets angry, know that evil is determined by him. Therefore deal kindly with your servant, for you have brought your servant into a covenant of the Lord with you. But if there is any guilt in me, kill me yourself. For why should you bring me to your father?””

Pure Heart
Do you ever find yourself looking for problems?
Maybe you have grown cynical and easily find fault in others.
Jonathan had a pure heart. He could not conceive the possibility that his father would want to harm David.
Do you have a pure heart before God?
Sometimes we are looking for trouble in every situation because our hearts have grown cold.
David actually had cause to be afraid. The king wanted him dead.
If you find yourself critical of others or focusing on what could go wrong or might happen, then take a step back and refocus.
These are symptoms of a wandering heart.
In order to maintain a pure heart, we must let go of this world and all of it’s worries.
Action Step
Take a deep breath in and release it slowly.
Repeat.
Invite Jesus to renew your mind. Surrender all of you into His arms.
Stay here as long as needed.
