Day5

1Samuel 25

Week 40

“Then Abigail hurried and took two hundred loaves, two bottles of wine, five prepared sheep, five measures of roasted grain, a hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and she loaded them on donkeys. And she said to her servants, “Go on before me. See, I will be coming after you.” But she did not tell her husband Nabal. And as she was riding on the donkey and going down into the cover of the mountain, David and his men were coming down to meet her and she met them.”

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭25‬:‭18‬-‭20‬ ‭MEV‬‬

Preparation

How many of you have 200 loaves of bread and 5 prepared sheep in your pantry?

Abagail did. She was prepared for the harvest. A time of celebration and feasting. She had all the supplies ready ahead of time for the season that she was in.

Are we in preparation for the next season or even the current season?

Somedays I don’t know how I’m gonna get through the day, much less the next season.

Preparation is vitally important for every believer. It starts with prayer.

There is no short cut in your relationship with God. He is able to equip you for every season, but you have to show up to receive.

Sometimes I am guilty of hurriedly reading through my devotional like I need to check off a box.

It is easy to fall into that rut.

God is a person and wants our attention. He longs for our company.

Preparation for a party requires much work and planning like Abigail and her servants did.

The kind of preparation required for our spiritual lives is much more enjoyable, but somehow we still tend to forget about it.

What we do now affects what happens next.

Action Step

Cultivate a life of prayer.

  1. Talk to God- nothing is off limits.

  2. Listen for God to direct you. ( set a timer and be quiet).

  3. Intercede for others by asking God to help anyone who comes to mind.

  4. Commit your ways to God. Give Him your to do list and ask Him to redo it for you.

This is how you begin to prepare spiritually.
