Day1
1Samuel 28
Week 46
“The woman came to Saul and saw that he was terrified. And she said to him, “Listen, your handmaid has obeyed your voice. I have taken my life in my hand and have listened to your words which you spoke to me. Now therefore you also, please obey the voice of your maidservant and let me set before you a piece of bread, and eat so that you may have strength when you go on your way.” But he refused and said, “I will not eat.” But his servants, and also the woman, urged him and he listened to them. So he arose from the ground and sat on the bed. Now the woman had a fattened calf in the house, and she hurried and killed it, and took flour, and kneaded it, and baked unleavened bread from it. She brought it before Saul and his servants, and they ate. Then they arose and went away that night.”

Poor Me
Have you ever experienced a toddler refuse to eat?
Usually they are too busy with their own agenda, but sometimes the refusal is an attempt to get attention or pity.
Have you ever used the “poor me” act as an adult?
King Saul has just plain run out of options. He was desperate and used his actions to gain sympathy.
Poor me was a sentiment that he was familiar with.
This game, poor me, is easy to see in a toddler. It can be a little harder to recognize when an adult plays with the attitude. It can be especially difficult to see in ourselves.
God is faithful and He has provided us everything we need daily.
When our focus is on Jesus and His agenda, it is much more difficult to fall into the poor me syndrome.
Action Step
Check your focus.
Take your eyes off of “self” and spend a few extra moments right now looking at Jesus and praise Him for all He has done.
