Please Stand By

Day2

Mark15:35-36

“Some who were standing near the cross misunderstood and said, “Listen! He’s calling for Elijah.” One bystander ran and got a sponge, soaked it with sour wine, then put it on a stick and held it up for Jesus to drink. But the rest said, “Leave him alone! Let’s see if Elijah comes to rescue him.””

Please Stand By

Growing up, the TV would sometimes flash this message on the screen, “Please Stand By” along with a high pitched tone. This was the emergency broadcast system announcing severe weather to come or more often the warning was a test to make sure the system was working.

Does anyone remember that?

Sometimes, as a child I would get up and stand by the TV quite literally, waiting for something to happen and other times I was just annoyed by the interruption.

Are you standing by today?

Are you waiting for something to happen in your life?

Do you feel annoyed by the interruptions of troubling life circumstances?

Are you irritated with interruptions in your routine?

While Jesus was on the cross, people were standing by watching Him suffer. Most were probably waiting to see a sign or miracle like they had heard about.

They had no idea what was actually happening behind the scenes.

We know what happened! We know the end of the story. Jesus conquers death and rises to life saving all who will believe!

Hallelujah!

But do you know what is happening behind the scenes of your life?

God is asking us to please stand by and rest in Him!

He has given us victory in every area!

When we rest, God works. When we work, God rests!

Rest in Him by trusting His work behind the scenes.

Stand by on His promises!
