Day1
Week17
2 Samuel
“Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan said to David, “Now the Lord has put away your sin; you shall not die. Nevertheless, because by this deed you have utterly scorned the Lord, the child who is born to you shall die.” Then Nathan went to his house. The Lord struck the child that the wife of Uriah bore to David, and it became very ill. David entreated God on behalf of the child. He fasted for a period, and he would go in and lie throughout the night on the ground. The elders of his house stood beside him to rouse him from the ground, but he was not willing, nor would he consume food with them.”

Plead And Fast
Have you ever been so desperate that all you could think to do was to plead and fast before God?
David was desperate. He had been caught in the web of sin and his new wife and child were caught as well.
It is said that desperate times call for desperate measures, but I think if we can be willing to seek God earnestly and desperately before our situation is disastrous, then we will find ourselves better prepared for any given situation.
Prayer is preparation. Fasting is preparation. Studying God’s Word is preparation. Making time to be alone with God is preparation. Listening to faith messages is preparation. I could go on, but I think you get the point.
David had let up on his duties and his attention to God.
A good spiritual exercise for all of us would be to plead and fast before God asking Him to search each of our hearts and expose any areas of potential danger.
Action Step
Consider making a fast. During your fast, be sure to pray snd talk to God about how you are feeling and be honest with Him about your struggles.
