Day5
1Samuel 29
Week 46
“David said to Achish, “But what have I done? And what have you found in your servant, from the day which I came before you to this day, that I may not come and fight against the enemies of my Lord the king?” And Achish answered and said to David, “I know that you are pleasing in my sight like an angel of God. However the Lords of the Philistines have said, ‘He shall not go up with us in battle.’ Therefore rise up early in the morning with your master’s servants who have come with you. And when you have risen early in the morning and it is light, then depart.” So David and his men rose early to depart in the morning and return to the land of the Philistines. But the Philistines went up to Jezreel.”

People Pleaser
There are times when we can be so desperate to feel accepted that we agree to things or do things we normally wouldn’t do.
Have you ever agreed to take on something even though your plate was already filled?
It is not fun to let people down. It becomes easy to justify our behavior as a people pleaser because when we are agreeable, everyone is seemingly happy. We are supposed to make people happy, right?
No. The duty of man is to fear God and keep His commandments. We are to live out His purpose for our lives.
What is our purpose?
In the simplest terms, we are to point others to Jesus.
We each have unique gifts that are designed to do that.
Jesus did not come to please people, but to save them.
Sometimes we have to disappoint others in order to make an opportunity for Jesus to be the One that they rely on.
As a people pleaser, I understand the pressure, but the Bible tells us to Love God with all our heart and love our neighbor as ourselves.
Do you want others to rely on you or do you want them to learn to rely on God?
Action Step
Is there someone in your life who always comes to you for help?
Ask yourself, “Am I always coming to there rescue?”
If the answer is yes or most of the time, you may need to move out of the way and allow God to be there Savior.
