Day5 Week2 1 Samuel “and she causeth him to go up with her when she hath weaned him, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and she bringeth him into the house of Jehovah at Shiloh, and the youth [is but] a youth. And they slaughter the bullock, and bring in the youth unto Eli, and she saith, ‘O, my Lord, thy soul liveth! my Lord, I [am] the woman who stood with thee in this [place], to pray unto Jehovah; for this youth I prayed, and Jehovah doth give to me my petition which I asked of Him; and also I have caused him to be asked for Jehovah, all the days that he hath lived — he is asked for Jehovah;’ and he boweth himself there before Jehovah.” 1 Samuel 1:24-28 YLT98 https://bible.com/bible/821/1sa.1.24-28.YLT98 Cross references Numbers 15:9–2; 2Timothy 3:15 Paid In Full Samuel was around 3 years old when Hannah delivered him to Eli and payed her vow. So many things had to align for this. First, even in their culture it is not everyday that a woman dropped off a 3 year old for an old priest to raise, who, by the way already had 2 grown sons that were rebellious and disobedient. What about the 3 year old who was about to be abandoned by his mother? Do you remember how your 3 year old reacted when you left him or her at the babysitters? Finally, Hannah had to release her only child and say goodbye. No phone calls, no FaceTime, no weekend visits. Once a year she would see him. Nevertheless, God lined it all up and the vow payment was made peacefully. According to Young’s literal translation, The boy, Samuel bowed himself before God. Hannah’s faith amazes me. She prepared Samuel his whole life of three years for this very moment. She dedicated her own life those precious three years to raising Samuel up knowing the Lord and knowing his purpose. This is a true picture of a faithful mother. Action Step: Romans 8:1 There is therefore NOW no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Jesus paid it all! Our bill for sin is paid in full!
