Day3
Week30
2 Samuel
“The men of Joab went out after him, along with the Kerethites, the Pelethites, and all of the warriors; and they went out from Jerusalem to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri. When they were at the large stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. Now Joab was dressed in his battle armor, and fastened on it was a belt with a sword in its sheath at the waist. As he went forward, it fell out. Joab said to Amasa, “Is it well with you, my brother?” and he took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him. Amasa was not on guard against the sword in the hand of Joab, and he struck him in the midsection spilling his entrails on the ground. He died without being struck a second time. Then Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.”

Opportunity Knocks
Does your personal agenda line up with God’s?
When opportunity knocks, giving you a chance to pursue your dreams, do you stop to consider if the opportunity is from God or maybe a selfish ambition?
Joab had been demoted and he had murdered for his own sake before and not been punished. He is definitely considered an opportunist, who would not hesitate to answer when opportunity knocks.
Most of us haven’t committed murder, but have we done something for our own benefit that ended up having consequences for others?
Joab neither considered the king or the kingdom’s future in his selfish pursuit for power and prestige.
Our number one motivation is supposed to be for the spreading of the Gospel.
Are you listening daily to hear opportunity knocking?
