One Prisoner

There are 3 consecutive feasts celebrated during this time. Passover, The Feast of Unleavened Bread and First Fruits. All three are included when the Passover Feast is referred to during Jesus arrest, sentencing, crucifixion and resurrection.

During this celebration, in Jesus time it was a Hebrew custom to release one prisoner as a reminder of their deliverance from slavery in Egypt.

Pilate was accustomed to appeasing the people by following that tradition.

Only one prisoner.

Jesus took our place. He was not released.

Barabbas was chosen to be released. He was a political revolutionary who had murdered someone during a riot.

( Political riots and murder? Sounds like our times.)

You are that one prisoner who was chosen to be released.

Jesus willingly took your place. He did not defend Himself, but took your place.

You have been brought out of Egypt ( slavery to your flesh or sinful nature)

It is so personal!

Only one. One prisoner could be set free.

He chose you.

What will you do with your freedom?
