Day1
Week18
1Samuel 12
“Then Samuel said to all Israel: “I have listened to your voice in all that you said to me, and have made a king over you. And now, see, the king walks before you, but I am old and gray-headed. As for my sons, they are with you. But I have walked before you from my childhood to this day.”
1 Samuel 12:1-2 MEV
Cross references
Numbers16:15;
Old and Gray
Samuel was about 52 years old when he gave this speech.
He lived for around another 40 years.
Isn’t it interesting how we can think we have it all figured out.
Samuel had accomplished a lot in those years so far.
He had been in the priest’s house since about 2 years old. He was faithful to God and it would appear that he was tired.
But God had other plans.
We get tired. We get ahead of God. I have heard people in there twenties talk about being old.
I like to say, “If you’re not dead, God’s not done!”
Do you feel like giving up? Have you run a good race?
Are you weary from your journey?
Chances are, you’re somewhere in the middle.
The finish line is not found in the middle of the race.
The beginning is usually exciting and new, but that wears off quickly.
The end has feeling’s of relief and accomplishment, but that wears off and we are on to the next thing.
The middle is the space where we actually live.
Ugh!
Action Step
