Obey Without Dely

Day4

Week 19

Hebrews 13

”Obey your spiritual leaders and recognize their authority, for they keep watch over your soul without resting since they will have to give an account to God for their work. So it will benefit you when you make their work a pleasure and not a heavy burden. And keep praying for us that we continue to live with a clear conscience, for we desire to live honorably in all that we do. And I especially ask you to pray that God would send me back to you very soon.“

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭17‬-‭19‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Obey Without Delay

What does it look like to obey our spiritual leaders?

Have you ever sat through a sermon where your pastor asks you to read a certain chapter of the Bible or pick up a handout that he had prepared with memory verses on it?

Did you do it?

Most of us can probably say yes and no. Sometimes I do it, sometimes maybe not for various reasons.

This is what it looks like to obey our spiritual leaders. We need to obey without delay the instructions of our spiritual leaders.

There are times when we may be asked to give of our time, money or physical labor voluntarily as well.

God has put us under the authority of these people for a reason and it is for our benefit. It is not for us to question.

It is for us to obey without delay.

I recently received a partner letter from a minister I am under urging me to read, study and confess Psalm 91 for a specific time as well as pray in the Spirit for a specific amount of time.

I copied and pasted the Psalm into my phone notes, but I never actually got around to doing the faith exercise.

For the past 7 days I have been fighting headaches and oppression. In 2017, God brought me out of darkness and suffering from debilitating migraines by healing me with His Word.

This very morning I stumbled upon the verse of the day on YouVersion, 1 Peter 2:9 …you called me out of darkness and into Your light.

I was immediately reminded of His prompting me to study and recite the verses from the partner letter I mentioned above.

I quickly repented and my joy was restored!!

Once again He pulled me out of darkness into His glorious light!

(I promptly started doing the above instructions)

Nothing is wasted! God is faithful even when we are not.

Do not delay, obey.

His timing is perfect, but if you miss it, He is still faithful to deliver you.

Delayed obedience is still disobedience and it only prolongs our suffering opening us up to the enemy’s attacks.

Action Step

”But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.“

‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭3‬:‭3‬ ‭MEV‬‬

Are there any areas of your life where you need God to guard you against attacks from the devil?

Talk to Him about it.

There is nothing God can’t overcome.

Find power in the knowledge that He heard your prayer and wants to continue the conversation.
