Day3

Week 19

Hebrews 13

”So we no longer offer up a steady stream of blood sacrifices, but through Jesus, we will offer up to God a steady stream of praise sacrifices—these are “the lambs” we offer from our lips that celebrate his name! We will show mercy to the poor and not miss an opportunity to do acts of kindness for others, for these are the true sacrifices that delight God’s heart.“

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭TPT‬‬

How much of your day is spent talking?

How much of that time is spent complaining?

  • The average person speaks around 16,000 words in a day, with females (16,215 words) speaking slightly more than males (15,699).

  • People speak around 941 words per hour, on average, during the typical day.

  • The actual time people spend speaking during the day is around 1 hour and 54 minutes.

  • Only 5% of words people use during the day are unique words, with all others being repeated.

  • The average person uses between 2.67% and 3.35% of their vocabulary every day.

Wow! That’s a lot of words and quite a significant amount of time.

We know that words have power. Proverbs 18:21.

If these words are supposed to be sacrificial lambs of praise, then we need to ask ourselves how many lambs are we offering?

We can all do better, right?

I think the sacrifice is that even when we don’t feel like it, we offer up praise and thanksgiving to God, in fact especially when we don’t feel like it.

It is when we are thankful that we will see opportunities to bless others and be more apt to actually do something about it.

Action Step

Watch your words.

Lord, help me to cultivate a grateful heart and recognize opportunities to show kindness and generosity to others.

Write down every time you catch yourself complaining today.

Make a point to repent and praise God for His faithfulness each time you stumble.
