“Saul also sent messengers to the house of David, to watch him and to slay him in the morning. But Michal, wife of David, told him, saying, “If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be dead.” So Michal let David down through a window, and he went and fled to safety. Michal took an idol and laid it in the bed, and put a braided goat hair pillow for its head and covered it with clothes. When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, “He is sick.” Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, “Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.” When the messengers came in, there was the idol in the bed with a goat hair pillow for its head.”

Loyalty
Anyone else think it is odd that the daughter of the King Of Israel, has an idol in her home? The home of David?
This idol was large enough to look like a human lying under covers.
How big are the idol’s in our hearts?
The people in the Bible had visible idols. They walked out their lives by sight. What they could reason with their physical senses.
Their loyalty was in what they could see, touch, smell, taste and hear.
Are we that much different than they?
Where is your loyalty?
We are supposed to walk by faith and not by sight.
Holy Spirit lives on the inside of the born-again believer, but we can not see Him.
It is easier to trust in what we can see. Things that we can hold in our hands.
What are you holding tightly in your hands?
Money, food, people, family, friends, a job or career…..
Comfort, ease, stability…
If our loyalty lies with anything , but Jesus then we have more surrendering to do.
