Day4
Week9
2 Samuel
”When the ark of the Lord entered the City of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked down from the window, and upon seeing King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she thought contemptuously of him in her mind. They brought the ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the tent that David had erected for it. Then David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord. When David had finished offering the burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people before the Lord of Hosts. He distributed to all of the people, the entire multitude of Israel, both men and women, one bread cake, one date cake, and one raisin cake to each one. Then all of the people left, each to his house.“

Look up
Comparison is a lonely place. Have you ever been caught up there?
Michal, the daughter of Saul, found herself looking down on David contemptuously. His behavior was beneath her. She thought about what all the other women would think. Her eyes were trapped in comparison and soon jealousy joined the party. As she thought about it she became angry and felt like a victim.
We can learn from her. First, she took her eyes off God when she looked down on David. She formed judgement in her mind.
We all need to look up and remain focused on Him.
Next she allowed her thoughts to remain focused on herself and soon jealousy and contempt became the focus of her comparison.
Our eyes are a gateway and what we look at is where we will go. Our thoughts tend to follow our eyes much like steering a car. Where you look is where your hands eventually steer towards, right?
David was looking up! His heart and mind were focused on celebrating God and pleasing Him. He took no thought of anyone else or what they would think. He simply worshipped God with all his might.
Action Step
Spend some time right now looking up and worship God with all your might.
Nothing can separate you from God’s love. Romans 8:37-39
When you understand who you really are, it is only then that you will be able to do all things through Christ’s strength.
So let’s start applying the life giving truth we find in the Bible so that we move from victim hood to victory.
