Let Your Guard Down

Day2

1Samuel 24

Week 39

“When Saul had returned from following the Philistines, it was reported to him, saying, “David is in the Wilderness of En Gedi.” Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel and went to seek David and his men in front of the rocks of the wild goats. He came to the sheep pens by the way and a cave was there. And Saul went in to relieve himself. Now David and his men were sitting in the rear of the cave. The men of David said to him, “This is the day of which the Lord said to you, ‘I am giving your enemy into your hand. You may do with him as seems good in your eyes.’ ” Then David arose and secretly cut off the corner of Saul’s robe.”

Let Your Guard Down

Are you living a comfortable lifestyle?

Most of us live pretty comfortable compared to other parts of the world.

It is a dangerous place to become comfortable and let your guard down. There is nothing wrong with being comfortable in itself. The danger is getting used to it and therefore letting your guard down.

Our Christian life is not meant to be comfortable. Jesus called us to stand out and He said that we would suffer.

Saul let his guard down and became vulnerable. When we relax and gradually pray less, forget to read and study our Bible, miss a church gathering here or there; we are, in fact; letting our guard down. Soon we start to blend in with the world and there way of thinking. It’s just more comfortable that way.

Saul was lucky because his enemy was a man of God with integrity. Otherwise he would have been killed that day in the cave.

Our enemy is the opposite. He came to steal, kill and destroy. We can not afford to let our guard down. We do not have the luxury to slack off. Not only are we at risk of attack, but people are dying and going to hell daily because they don’t know the truth in God’s Word.

It is our job to tell them.

It feels good to relax and be comfortable for a minute, but beware of your enemy and keep your guard up.

You are already taking a step in that direction by reading this Bible study.

Pray and ask God to show you where your armor is weak.
