Prayer and Fasting
Why?
Does it directly affect the devil or his demons when we pray or fast?
No, not directly.
Then why did Jesus say, “This kind cannot come out except by prayer and fasting.”?
Who is directly affected when you pray or when you fast?
YOU!
You communicate with God through prayer
(2 -way conversation)
Talking and listening.
You are built up in strength, faith, energy, joy, power etc.
Build up your most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit.(Jude1:20-21)
You submit to God through fasting. Denying yourself so that your spirit can be more in tune to the Holy Spirit and His will or direction for your life. You become more sensitive to spiritual things and gain insight and understanding.
Both of these are forms of communication with God and are faith exercises.
5 times in this chapter, faith is mentioned either for a lack of or the possibilities of faith.
Jesus wants us to understand how faith works.
We gain understanding through communion with God and that is how our faith begins to grow.
Unbelief is a form of fear. Fear that it won’t work.
Where is fear from?
The devil.
Perfect love casts out fear.(1 John 4:18)
How is love perfected in us?
God is love. The more time you spend with Him, the more you become like Him.
Prayer and fasting do not affect the devil like Kryptonite affects Superman.
The effect is that you are changed and love is perfected in you.
The devil only has one weapon. Fear.
When you walk in love, the devil has no power over you!
Praise be to God, Hallelujah!
