Day5
1 Samuel 18
Week32
“And the servants of Saul reported to him saying, “According to these words, David spoke.” Saul said, “Thus will you say to David, ‘The king does not desire any dowry but a hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king’s enemies.’ ” But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines. When his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king’s son-in-law. Now the days had not expired; therefore David arose and went, he and his men, and killed two hundred men of the Philistines. Then David brought their foreskins and they gave them in full to the king, that he might be the king’s son-in-law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter for a wife. When Saul saw and knew that the Lord was with David, and that Michal, his daughter, loved him, Saul was yet the more afraid of David, and Saul became the enemy of David continually. Then the commanders of the Philistines went out to make war. And when they went out David was more successful than all the servants of Saul, so that his name was highly honored.”

It’s Complicated
Family dynamics are sometimes difficult. It’s Complicated, isn’t it?
These dynamics have been developing for years.
Anyone outside of the family will have a difficult time understanding your family dynamic because they are all different and unique to the people inside.
Saul should have been happy to have a son- in-law that was faithful, respected and who his daughter loved , right?
What happened? It’s Complicated because only those inside each household know the dynamic.
We know that Saul was head and shoulders taller than everyone else around him. Imagine him in junior high. He was probably awkward and maybe he was made fun of by his brothers among other things.
He tried to hide from the prophet when he was to be made king.
He didn’t show much initiative early o when his father had to tell him to go now and search for the lost donkey.
Maybe-he had made so many mistakes at home he was frozen with fear of failure.
Family dynamics!
Saul was frozen in the comparison trap and it made him jealous of David and suspicious of everyone.
What about your family dynamics?
Maybe your family are loud communicators!
Or sarcastic or teasing, or kind or soft spoken or debaters……
It’s Complicated, right?
Our family dynamic shapes us. This can effect how we react and interact with others.
We are in a new family now.
The body of Christ. Our family dynamic needs to reflect the fruit of the Spirit which is love.
Action Step
Consider your gamily dynamic and allow Jesus to help you determine which characters are leading you away from Him.
Let the Vinedresser prune you and cultivate the character’s or Holy Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control; against such there is no law.”
Galatians 5:22-23 MEV
