Day4
Week14
1Samuel 9
“Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the gate, and said, “Tell me, please, where is the seer’s house?” Samuel answered Saul, and said, “I am the seer. Go up before me to the high place, for you will eat with me today. And tomorrow I will let you go, and will tell you then all that is in your heart. As for your donkeys that were lost three days ago, do not your worry about them for they have been found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel? Is it not on you and on all your father’s house?” And Saul answered and said, “Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why do you speak to me this way?””

It’s A Set Up!
Have you ever been so consumed with your own personal problems that you were unaware of things going on around you?
Self focus is always a distraction.
Worry begins with thinking about your “self”.
You may be thinking “But I am worried about my friend.”
Did you notice the word “my” in that statement?
Every worry is based on some effect on ourselves.
If there is no effect on us, there is no worry.
Saul wasn’t concerned about the donkey’s. He was concerned about his father’s reaction to him if he didn’t find them.
Our empathy and compassion for a friend doesn’t change into worry until we begin to focus on how it will affect us or how we will feel if there is a negative outcome.
Worry is a distraction. Worry sets us up to miss out on the here and now.
God desires for us to live a full life in every moment.
He gave us 500 scriptures concerning fear to help us.
Saul may have been concerned about himself, but God was setting him up for a greater purpose.
God will rearrange circumstances in our lives in order to accomplish His plan.
He will set us up for success, but it depends on our heart.
Our circumstances are a set up. We can choose to focus on them( self) a distraction or we can choose to focus on God and embrace His divine plan for our life.
Either way, it’s a set up for what’s next.
We choose by what we focus on.
