1 Samuel
“And as she was praying before the Lord, Eli watched her mouth. Now Hannah was speaking in her heart. Her lips were moving, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk. So Eli said to her, “How long will you be drunk? Put away your wine from you.””

It Gets Worse!
Last week we left our story with Hannah pouring out her heart before God and making a desperate vow.
We pick up our story today and find that it gets worse.
Elkanah the priest has been watching Hannah and her desperate behavior. He scolds Hannah and commands that she stop drinking and sober up.
Have you ever poured out your heart to God only for things to get worse?
I have experienced this and heard others testify the same.
It is hard to hold onto hope when everyone one around you seems to be against you or at least passing judgment.
Jesus is our hope. Focus on Him no matter what it looks like.
Let us remember that God looks on a matter from the heart.
Outward appearance can be deceiving.
Action Step:
If you poured out your heart to God and like Hannah your situation seems worse, remember that God is faithful. Do not give up, let that be your evidence and drop your anchor of hope a little deeper. Jesus never fails.
Who can you extend grace to today?
Flip your focus and breathe some wind in someone else’s sails today
