Intercession
Paul asks or rather commands his readers to pray for them 8 different times. (Maybe 7; not sure who wrote Hebrews).
Why is this important for us today?
Prayer is power. Just like in Paul’s time, they needed strength and direction and encouragement from God, which came from prayer; our pastors and ministers and evangelists, etc. need our prayers.
God hears our prayers.
James 5:16 tells us that the effectual, fervent prayer of the righteous avails much.
That means the prayer of faith from a Christ follower is very effective!
Those who are called to minister, teach and preach the gospel need us to prayer for them. They are not immune to the attacks of the enemy.
Intercessory prayer is simply praying on behalf of someone else.
Action Step:
Each day this week, pray for 5 minutes focusing on a pastor or minister. Let Holy Spirit guide you. I find it helpful to set a timer on my phone or use an egg timer.
You will be sowing seeds of prayer and remember that you will reap what you sow.
