Day4
Week5
2 Samuel
”Abner became very angry over the words of Ish-Bosheth. He said, “Am I a dog’s head that belongs to Judah? Each day I show loyalty to the house of Saul your father, to his brothers, and to his friends by not allowing you to fall into the hand of David. Yet today you are charging me with guilt concerning this woman. May God do so to Abner, and more also, for as the Lord has sworn to David, this I will do for him, to transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul and to establish the throne of David over Israel and Judah, from Dan to Beersheba.” And he could not offer a response to Abner, for fear of him.“

Insulted
Have you ever been insulted by someone you love?
Abner was loyal to Saul and had given Ish Bosheth a chance to be great as king.
Regardless of Abner’s own political ambitions, he was loyal and this accusation was a below-the-belt insult in his eyes.
The enemy of our soul will twist and confuse a matter in our mind so much so that, if we listen we can end up making an enemy out of our closest friend.
Fear is a lier. Suspicion and paranoia can wreck a relationship.
Do you have ears to hear the truth?
Action Step
Ask God to show you who you have been listening to.
The Word of God is truth. Be very careful what you let go in your ears.
”For the time is coming when [people] will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, but, having ears itching [for something pleasing and gratifying], they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, chosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the errors they hold, And will turn aside from hearing the truth and wander off into myths and man-made fictions.“
