Keep in mind that Biblical fasting is a spiritual exercise and like any exercise or discipline it is not easy.
You will be tempted to quit.
When you are tempted it is helpful to remind yourself of one thing that God has done for you in the past and thank Him for it. If you can, write it down and talk to Him about your thoughts. This is why adding a fasting and prayer journal is helpful.
Give Him your full attention for a moment and receive encouragement.
Inheritance
Have you ever received an inheritance?
Some have received money or a family heir loom, while others nothing tangible.
We have all received a genetic inheritance in the form of a personality trait, physical appearance or even a disorder or disease.
As Christ followers, we have also received an inheritance.
As we continue our fast, it is my prayer that the eyes of our understanding would be opened and we would be filled with light.
When the light switch is flipped on the room is clearly visible. We are able to see what we have.
When our minds are lit up, we can clearly see the inheritance that Jesus has prepared for us.
That is the beginning of hope.
He has identified us as His own by placing His Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything He has promised. 2Corinthians 1:22 NLT
Action Step
Praise God for your inheritance!
Take a few moments to jot down whatever comes to your mind.
