Day2
Week18
2 Samuel
“Now Amnon had a friend whose name was Jonadab the son of Shimeah, the brother of David, and Jonadab was a very crafty individual. He asked him, “Why are you, the son of the king, so sullen morning after morning? Will you not tell me?” Amnon told him, “I am in love with Tamar, the sister of Absalom my brother.” Jonadab instructed him, “Lie down on your bed and pretend to be ill. When your father comes to see you, say to him, ‘Please allow Tamar, my sister, to come and prepare some food for me. She should make the food here, so that when I see it, I may eat it from her hand.’ ” So Amnon lay down and pretended to be ill. When the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, “Please let my sister Tamar come here to make a couple of cakes, so that I may be nourished from her hand.””

Influencers
Who has your ears?
They say that you are who you hang around with. In our society it might be better said that you are who you listen to most via podcast or radio, social media or mainstream media… influencers are everywhere.
Influencer: a person who has the power to influence many people, as through social media or traditional media:
one who exerts influence : a person who inspires or guides the actions of others.
often, specifically : a person who is able to generate interest in something (such as a consumer product) by posting about it on social media.
Amnon was influenced by his cousin who had a reputation for stirring up drama. Cousin Jonadab was an influencer way back when before social media. He instigated Amnon by speaking to his desire rather than leading him to good sense and integrity.
Consider who has your ears. Are they speaking to your desire or fear?
Are they leading you toward good sense and integrity. Ultimately, are they leading you closer to God or closer to your desires?
Action Step
