Day4

1Samuel 21

Week 36

“And David took these words to heart and greatly feared Achish the king of Gath. Therefore he changed his behavior before them and pretended to be insane in their hands. And he scratched on the doors of the gate and let his spittle run down his beard. Then said Achish to his servants, “You see the man is acting like a madman. Why then have you brought him to me? Am I one who lacks lunatics, that you brought this one to behave as a madman in my presence? Will this man come into my house?””

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭21‬:‭12‬-‭15‬ ‭MEV‬‬

Imagination

Are you creative? Let me answer that for you, yes! We are made in the image and likeness of our Creator and He is creative, therefore we are also.

That being said, some of us seem to be able to tap into that energy more easily.

Are you prone to worry?

That is your imagination running wild, creating scenarios in your mind that may never happen.

You’re creative, but you’re allowing your gift to torment you.

David used his imagination in some pretty fantastic ways. Remember Goliath and how David defeated him? Pretty creative. He didn’t use common warrior tactics. He exercised his imagination and in-spite of looking foolish, he was successful.

In today’s story, David was afraid and for good reason. He was brought before the enemy king, one who had heard of his fame.

Did he panic? Maybe, but as the story plays out, he taps into his imagination and used his acting skills to squeeze out of this dangerous spot.

David wasn’t afraid of looking foolish. He drooled all over himself in front of a king. Sounds pretty foolish and humiliating.

The point is that it worked.

Sometimes, dare I say oftentimes God will fill our imaginations with ideas in extreme circumstances that seem foolish.

It takes no faith to try something ordinary. It does take faith to use our imagination and trust God with an unusual idea.

Throughout the Bible and human history there are countless examples of unusual ideas that produced not only great inventions, but fantastic rescues.

All it takes is a little imagination and faith.

Action Step

Do you have an idea?

Are you in worry overdrive?

Either way, ask God to open up your imagination for His purpose and glory.

Hold on tight, because like David, you are in for some fantastic opportunities!

Sit for a moment before leaving this space and write down any( I mean any) thoughts that come to mind.
