I'm Used To It

Day3

1 Samuel 17

Week 30

“The Philistine came walking and drew near to David, and the man bearing the shield went before him. When the Philistine looked and saw David, he despised him. For he was a youth and ruddy with a handsome appearance. The Philistine said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” Then the Philistine cursed David by his gods. The Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the heavens and to the beasts of the field.””

I’m Used To It

Are there things in your life that you overlook because you are used to it?

Do you find yourself saying, "I'm used to it." often.

Sometimes we accept things that are not good because that is the way it has always been for us.

The Israelite Army as well as the king had been taunted for 40 days. They were getting used to it.

David had been taunted by his brothers his whole life. He was used to it.

What’s the difference?

David had prepared his heart by tuning in to the voice of God during difficult times. He played his harp and sang songs to God when he was sad and alone.

The Army and the king complained and fixated on the giant and his taunting words.

David was able to tune out the giant and tune into the voice of His God because he took what he was used to and allowed God to turn it into training.

Action Step

Are you in training?

Allow God to turn your ear to Him and tune out the enemy!

Set a timer for 5 minutes and tell God your concerns.

Do it again only this time sit quietly and listen.
