I Am Weak

Day5

Week6

2 Samuel

”Then all of the people came to persuade David to eat food while it was still day. But David took an oath, saying, “May God do to me, and more also, if I taste food or anything else before the sun sets.” All of the people recognized this, and it pleased them, as everything that the king did was pleasing to all of the people. That very day, all of the people, all of Israel, understood that it was not ordered from the king to have Abner the son of Ner killed. David said to his servant, “Do you not understand that a great leader has fallen this day in Israel? Today, I am weak, even if an anointed king, and these men, the sons of Zeruiah, are too strong for me. May the Lord repay the evildoer according to his wickedness.”“

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭3‬:‭35‬-‭39‬ ‭MEV‬‬

I Am Weak

Israel was divided between the house of Saul and the house of David. David’s plan of a smooth reconciliation between them has just been undermined by his own commanding officer.

Have you ever been betrayed by a friend?

When we come to a place in our lives where we can say, “I am weak.”, that is, in fact, the best place to be.

God’s strength shows out in our weakness and it is usually in weakness when we remember to call on God.

David uses this situation to humiliate his nephews,Joab and Abishai before the people to even the playing fields and so unite the people. Rather than killing Joab, He calls on the Lord to repay the evildoer for his wickedness.

Action Step

Do you feel weak?

Exalt the Lord because He is strong and He is faithful.

We do not have to be strong, but we gain strength by accessing the joy of the Lord through praise!

It is like choosing to strike a match rather than cursing the dark.
