Day4

Week2

2 Samuel

”From the blood of the slain, from the fat of mighty, the bow of Jonathan did not turn back, nor did the sword of Saul return empty. Saul and Jonathan, beloved and delightful, neither in life nor death will they be separated. They were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.“

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭1‬:‭22‬-‭23‬ ‭MEV‬‬

Honor

Have you ever had the opportunity to get even with your enemy once and for all?

What did you do?

David had every right to take this opportunity to blast his enemy Saul’s reputation and nobody would have blamed him.

Honor-

adherence to what is right or to a conventional standard of conduct.

David was a man of honor, unlike what is common to most of us.

It is no wonder that he was a man after God’s own heart.

Ephesians 4:29-30:

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Does our speech minister grace unto the hearers?

When we fail in this it grieves Holy Spirit who lives on the inside of us.

Is it any wonder we feel conflicted?

Eph. 4:31-32:

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

I would venture to say that none of us has sustained ridicule and abuse to the extent that David received from Saul.

We have seen an example here of true honor and the bar has been set.

Let’s work on exercising honor with our mouths today.

Action Step

Take a few deep breaths and slowly read through this a couple times.

”Lord, in my place of weakness and need, I ask again: Will you come and help me? I know I’m always in your thoughts. You are my true Savior and hero, so don’t delay to deliver me now, for you are my God.“

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭40‬:‭17‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Let this be your prayer today.

When you’re ready, talk to God about 1-3 areas that you are concerned about right now.
